HIFU and RF Microneedling advice

Pre-Treatment Advice

  1. The area to be treated should be free from make-up, perfume, deodorant and body or face creams.

  2. There should be no active or fake tan in the area to be treated. Use of sunbeds or prolonged exposure to sunlight is not advised in the week prior to treatment and Lynton Light Protect Daily Defence SPF50 or an SPF30+ must be used on the area between treatments.

  3. Stop using any acid / chemical-based products on the area for one week prior to treatment (e.g. glycolic / salicylic acid and retinoids). If using topical retinoids or steroids on the area, stop them at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.

  4. Avoid any type of exfoliation treatment such as AHA peels / microdermabrasion / waxing for 2 weeks prior to treatment.

  5. A medical history is taken at consultation. Inform us of any changes, including medication bought from a chemist or herbalist.

  6. Inform your practitioner if you have a history or flare-up of cold sores, as this may impair treatment. Anti-viral medication may be taken if necessary.

  7. If topical anaesthetic is to be used, please apply 30–45 minutes before your appointment.

  8. If you have had PDO threads in the treatment area, wait a minimum of six months before having Focus Dual treatment.

  9. Injectables should be avoided for four weeks pre- and post-treatment.

Post-Treatment Advice

  1. The treated area can be red or pink in colour after the treatment and this may last for a few hours. It will also feel warm to the touch.

  2. Bruising may occasionally occur after treatment in delicate areas (e.g. around the eyes). It may last up to 5 days, but resolves with no long-term effects.

  3. Use Lynton Light Protect Daily Defence SPF50 or an SPF 30+ to protect the area from sunlight and use it for at least one month after treatment ends.

  4. Make-up can be applied after several hours if the skin is not sore or broken. Be cautious if the skin is sensitive. Avoid if the skin is broken.

  5. Immediately after treatment, collagen fibre contraction improves elasticity. Skin may appear firmer, but the best results occur after a course of treatments (3 to 6 months after your last session).

  6. Care should be taken to avoid trauma to the treated area for 4 or 5 days.

    1. Avoid strenuous activity, sauna and steam, excessively hot baths, massaging, and tight clothing on the area.

  7. Waxing, tweezing and depilatory creams can be resumed 7 days post-treatment.

  8. A non-exfoliating cleanser and light moisturiser can be used on the day of treatment and for 1–2 days after.

    1. By day 3, normal skincare can be resumed, but avoid exfoliation (glycolics, acids, chemical-based products) for at least 7 days post-treatment.

  9. After laser treatment, chemical peels, Botox or Dermal Fillers can be resumed 2 weeks post-treatment.

  10. Blistering is very unusual, but if it does occur:

  • Contact the clinic immediately.

  • Keep the area clean and dry and allow it to heal naturally.

  • Do not use lotions or creams on open skin.

  • DO NOT pick grazes or blisters — this increases risk of scarring.

  • Once healed, use high-SPF sunscreen daily for 12 months to prevent pigmentation changes.
